Your guide to moving house

We can help sort out your electricity supply whether you’ve moving in or out of your home.

Moving In

If you have moved into a property that is registered with us, but don’t yet have a Power NI account you can set up an electricity account online. In some circumstances, you may be requested to provide proof of tenancy or proof of ownership.

If your property is registered with another supplier, you will need to switch to Power NI instead.

All you need is:

  • Your new address, Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) or Keypad Premise Number (KPRN) and moving in date. Please note: only customers with a Keypad meter will have a KPRN. If you don't have your MPRN or KPRN you can enter your Meter Serial Number which can be found on the front of your meter
  • Your bank details. Please note: this is only applicable to customers with bill pay meters.
  • Opening meter read for your new property. Please note: this is only applicable to customers with bill pay meters.
  • Your moving in date.

Already a Power NI customer?

If you’re an existing Power NI customer, moving house, you can now update us within your online account. If you don’t have an online account with us, you can register now.

All you need is:

We'll confirm your move has been processed by sending you an email, followed by a welcome pack in the post.

Moving Out

If you are moving out of a property, then it's important to close your account to avoid being billed for electricity used by any new occupants.

  1. To close your account you can now update us within your online account.
  2. We'll ask you for the following information:
  • The date you are moving out of your property
  • Final meter read if your property has a bill pay meter
  • A forwarding address

3. We'll then confirm your move has been processed

If you have a keypad

You still need to let us know you have left the property.

If you're renting

If you're renting, you'll still need to let us know so that you don’t end up being billed for energy used by the new tenant.
